Restaurants to offer HopeFest6 drink tickets to patrons

The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is teaming up with The Cracker Box in Carson City and Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton, for a day of support for local cancer patients in need, and to kick off HopeFest6, a rockin’ benefit concert to be held the following week at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center.

On Thursday, Aug. 11, customers who visit the Cracker Box Diner or Js’ Old Town Bistro and order a signature HopeFest item will receive a free drink ticket redeemable for an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage at HopeFest6.

The featured HopeFest item at the Cracker Box will be the freshly-squeezed orange juice. Patrons who order a glass will receive a free HopeFest6 drink ticket.

For those wishing to enjoy something at dinnertime, Executive Chef Ken Drumm, of Js’ Old Town Bistro, will be offering a seasonal, house-made gelato for purchase, qualifying for the free HopeFest6 redeemable drink ticket. Servers at both restaurant locations also will be selling HopeFest raffle tickets to customers.

True to his 36-year history as a beloved restaurant owner and dedicated community champion, Jerry Massad will also be serving dinners for purchase at HopeFest6, to keep the hunger at bay for concertgoers. Additionally, beer and wine have been donated by Lagunitas and Southern Wine & Spirits. The generosity of sponsors like these, and many others, allows for 100 percent of proceeds to directly benefit local cancer patients.

“So many of our neighbors are in critical need, and cancer patients in our community count on all of us to pull together to help carry them through their life threatening diagnosis,” said Kitty McKay, Foundation Director at Carson Tahoe Health. “That Jerry and his staff are willing to step up and be such a huge part of this lifesaving cause, demonstrates how lucky we are to live here. We are so grateful for the generous support of The Cracker Box and Js’ Bistro.”

HopeFest6, a free outdoor concert directly benefiting local cancer patients in need, will be held on Friday, August 19th, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center (located at 1535 Medical Parkway in Carson City). Proceeds from food, drink and raffle ticket sales provide critical support of no-cost lodging (for rural cancer patients) and assistance with necessities such as gas to get to treatment, insurance co-pays, lifesaving medications, and more.

Nationally famed soulgrass band, “The Waybacks,” known for their energetically performed, high-spirited melodies and inspirational combination of influences, will be the headlining entertainment. Additionally, the event raffle is sponsored by Dick Campagni’s car dealerships, which for the past nine years have donated the choice of a new car or $10,000 as the grand raffle prize.

The Cracker Box is located at 402 E. William Street in Carson City, and serving breakfast and lunch daily from 6:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

Js’ Old Town Bistro is located at 30 Pike Street in Dayton, and open Tuesday-Sunday from 4:00 P.M. for dinner.
