Joan Elizabeth Chapin Elliott

Joan Elizabeth Chapin Elliott joined her late husband, VE (Si) Elliott, MD, at the side of the Heavenly Father on 19 July 2016. She passed peacefully with family at her side after a brief illness complicating the ravages of

Alzheimer Dementia.

Joan was born 04 August 1927 and raised in an idyllic family home in Winfred , SD.

She attended Yankton College, where she met her future husband, Si, and just knew that he was to be the love of her life. They were married on 09 July 1950.

She supported Si through medical school in Colorado, and started her career as the best Mom there can ever be. She added to her family and supported Si as they lived and worked in San Francisco; Schurz, NV; Ely, NV. They finally

settled in Fallon, NV, where Si was a member of the Staff of the Fallon Clinc and Joan was active in Hospital Auxiliary and the Navy League for many years.

They later moved to Reno, where they lived happily for several years. When Si died after a lengthy illness!

Joan joined the working world. She then met and enjoyed life with Frank Amato, living in Seattle, WA; Boise, ID; and Phoenix, AZ; as well as back to Reno several times. Following Frank’s passing, Joan began suffering from the ravages of dementia . Even under those circumstances she remained good natured and happy, always dreaming and remembering her family.

Joan is survived by children, Kent (Mary), Trudy (Tony Latham), Curtis (Patricia), and Kevin; grandchildren, Matthew and Jeff (Kent), Brook and Anna (Trudy), Erica (Curtis), and Alana, Jason, and Danielle (Kevin). She is also

survived by several great-grandchildren and by her sister Margaret (Peggy) Chapin Thomas.

There will be a brief family service at 2:30 pm at the Northern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, where Mom will be placed forever more in the arms of the Love of Her Life, Si.
