Reward offered in case of impersonating law enforcement

Secret Witness is offering a cash reward in the amount of $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person who is impersonating a law enforcement officer and making traffic stops. During the past week there have been multiple incidents, which have occurred from Sparks, to south Reno to Carson City. After pulling someone over, he inspects their vehicle and then sometimes requests cash for a violation.

The suspect is driving a late model Ford pickup with an extended cab. The truck has been described at times as being gold or silver. The truck has flashing red and blue lights on or near the sun visor.

The man is described as an adult white male, in his late 30’s or older with a crew cut and moustache. He is 5’10” to 6’0” tall and about 250 pounds. He usually wears Khaki or camouflage pants and a polo shirt.

NHP recommends that if a motorist is suspicious of an unmarked law enforcement vehicle pulling them over, they drive to a safe spot, and call 9-1-1 to verify it is an officer, deputy or trooper.
