In less than three weeks, 30,000 bright yellow, rubber ducks will complete their training at Duckie Boot Camp and load up for their biggest challenge yet — a race down the Truckee River at Wingfield Park to raise money and awareness for homeless pets at Nevada Humane Society. The goal is to have every single duck adopted by someone in the community. The five fastest ducks win prizes, the grand prize being a 2016 Toyota Corolla donated by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota.

Adopt a rubber duck online or in person at Nevada Humane Society in Carson City and Reno, or call 775-856-2000, ext. 324 or 335.

Also, Mellow Fellow GastroPub in downtown Reno, across from Greater Nevada Field, is donating proceeds from its Duck Tail Ale, a beer designed for the Duck Race & Festival, to the Nevada Humane Society.

The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21 at Wingfield Park. For more information, go to https://www.duckrace.com/reno.
