Barbara Claire White McDonald Lowe, 83, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. She had battled non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for 30 years. She was born in San Francisco and lived there until 8 years old when her parents, Sedwick Day White and Leola McCoy, moved to Mina, NV. Barbara is survived by her sisters, Joel (Vern) Cadwallader of Dayton, NV, and Sharon Magaña of Las Vegas. Her brother, Judd White, preceded her in death. She married Robert McDonald in 1949. Robert and Barbara had four children; Robert (Mary) of Atlanta, and Lana (Carl) Johnston, Todd (Donna) and Stephanie (Ralf) Landeros, all of Las Vegas. In Atlanta Barbara had a granddaughter, Kate (Will) Jacobus and great grandchildren, Keller, Kollins and Kingston. She married David Lowe of Carson City in 1991. The blended family included David (Leanne), and Rebecca, all of Carson City, Bryant (Charlotte) of Battle Mountain, grandson Daniel Chandia and Andrew (Theresa), all of Las Vegas and granddaughters Samantha and Regan of Carson City. Barbara moved to Carson City where she worked with the Rehabilitation Division until her retirements in 1991 in Las Vegas. On her husband’s retirement they built their dream home in Sandy Valley where they were active in St. Catherine of Siena Mission. At the time of her death Barbara was a member of Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church in Summerlin. She loved the San Francisco Giants and was a member of the Old Spanish Trail chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Barbara had toured England, Italy, and Hungary. Macaroni, a black Lab Retriever, was her favorite dog, and she also loved Woofy, Maraiah, Oso and Jeanie. Alice, Alexander and Uncle were her favorite black cats.


Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, August 19 at 9:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery. A reception at the Desert View Community Center at 10360 Sun City Blvd will follow.
