Harry L. Fowler

Harry L. Fowler, a long-time member of the Carson City community, passed on Friday, August 19th of this year of our Lord 2016.

Born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota on October 17th, 1930, Harry attended Palo Alto High School, in California, graduating in 1948. Shortly thereafter he was accepted in the Naval Aviator program at Pensacola, Florida. Unfortunately, he developed rheumatic fever and eventually had to be honorably discharged.

Harry was an Eagle Scout and very active in scouting. He served on many Courts of Honor. He had always displayed a natural gift for leadership and spent over 40 years in the fields of electronics, microwave technology, and microelectronics.

Beginning in engineering, Harry eventually put his talents to use in sales and marketing. He worked for the most prestigious companies in the Bay Area and was there to see silicon valley begin, and help it to grow into the world’s most admired technology center in the world.

Harry and his wife, Pat, moved to Carson City in 1996, locating in the Long Ranch area. Harry’s public interests were very wide ranging, including organizations such as the Nevada Republican Party and the Men’s Club; a gathering of some of the senior private leaders of the city, of which Harrry was one of the founding members.

Harry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat Fowler; children Steve Fowler, Rich Fowler, Debbie Bigley, Sheri True, Rob Fowler, Ken Barstow, Rick Barstow; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

His intelligence, passion for games, eclectic reading activities, fishing and love of family will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
