A comedian best know for his many appearances on “The Dr. Phil Show,” “Fox Sports,” and the Emmy Award winning talk show “The Doctors” is appearing at the Carson Nugget.

Those who catch Tom McClain on Friday, Sept. 2, also may recognize him from “Entertainment Tonight,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI: New York” and several other shows along with dozens of television commercials.

The Los Angeles comedian draws from his many life experiences to relate to his audiences. Whether he’s discussing growing up in one of Sacramento’s roughest neighborhoods or fulfilling his four-year military commitment, audiences will get a clear image of where McClain came from.

McClain’s comedy can be found on XM radio, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. A known sports enthusiast, he has found many ways to tie his work into his passion. He has performed in front of more than 17,000 rabid Kings fans as a part of an NBA pre-game show at Sacramento’s Arco Arena, emceed a number of NFL celebrity golf tournaments, and appeared on many sports TV and radio talk shows.

Live comedy at the Nugget will continue on Friday, Sept. 9, with a performance from Carla Rea, of Evening at the Improv, Showtime and Comedy Central fame.

Rea, who appeared twice on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” has more than 25 years of comedy club, TV, and radio experience. She’s worked with some of comedy’s biggest names, including: Ray Romano, Brad Garrett, Paula Poundstone, Kathleen Madigan. She’s a radio personality on The KKLZ Morning Show, 96.3, Las Vegas.

Kevin Shea, who has done “The Arsenio Hall Show,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “Down n Dirty with Jim Norton,” is appearing on Friday, Sept. 16. The comedian, a native of South Korea, will make his Carson City debut in a performance hosted by Rex Meredith, who’s bringing his own act to the Nugget on Friday, Sept. 23.

Meredith is a comedic adventure of stand-up comedy, musical impressions, original characters, and a variety of hysterical stories. Meredith, who has more than 100 TV appearances under his belt, impersonates Joe Cocker, Aretha Franklin, Aaron Neville and a slew of rap and American Idol singers. He appeared on “The Tonight Show” and other shows on HBO, Showtime and CNN.

Rounding out the comedy schedule is Quinn Dahle, who’s performing on Friday, Sept. 30.

With appearances on Showtime, Comedy Central, “The Tonight Show,” “Lopez Tonight” and “Carson Daly,” Quinn uses gut-busting facial expressions in his stand-up act. A native of Minnesota and resident of Los Angeles, he recently landed a development deal for a sitcom with 20th Century Fox.

Doors open at 6:45 with shows following at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $13 in advance and $15 on the day of the show. Audience members must be 21 or older.
