Carson City Board of Supervisors to look at RV parking ordinance

The Board of Supervisors this week will continue to look at the Carson City ordinance covering RV parking.

At its July 21 meeting, the board approved an amendment to the ordinance limiting the amount of a time an RV can be parked on the street and directed staff to look at some other issues for further consideration.

Those issues include the number of RVs that can be parked at a residence, which is now limited to the resident’s vehicle only, and abandoned RVs.

The city treasurer’s office will make its annual notice of properties owing back property taxes and the board decides whether to direct the treasurer to sell the properties for a total not less than what is owed.

The board could also decide to accept some of the parcels at a later meeting if it’s determined to be in the public interest for the city to own them.

More than three dozen parcels owing a total of $202,323.95 are on the list.

The board also will decide whether to give its approval to the Nevada-works agreement, a workforce development agency agreement between 13 counties; two contracts for $37,000 and $56,339 for youth substance abuse counseling and classes; and a contract for $82,000 for emergency medical equipment and supplies used on a daily basis during the fire department’s EMS responses.

There will also be a presentation on the Leadership & Resiliency Wilderness Program summer program for high-risk youths along with a graduation speech from one of the program’s graduates.
