Hail storm: A shower of hail stones as big as cherries fell here yesterday morning. The hail was succeeded by rain and a cool, fresh, delightful atmosphere. The ground was whitened for a while with the hail stones.

Honorable W.W. Hobart, formerly State Controller and afterwards State Senator of Nevada, commonly known as Bill Hobart, was elected a delegate to the California State Convention at the Republican primaries last week. Mr. Hobart had sworn off politics, but the old time spirit came back to him, and he couldn’t keep out of the fight.

100 years ago

Arrangements have been made to hold a memorial service at the University of Nevada gymnasium in honor of Captain Charles T. Boyd, an American officer who was killed in the battle between American and Mexican troops at the battle of Carrizal, Mexico. Boyd, for some time, was commandant of the university cadets.

The first allocation of school shop equipment to come to this state from surplus government war plants is scheduled to arrive in Ely sometime this week, Donald Cameron, state director of vocational education, said today.

Attorney General Brian McKay announced Wednesday that he has appealed a district court decision that held Nevada’s Open Meeting Law allows local government officials to meet in private with their attorneys.
