Carson City Sierra Place hosting free holiday events

Free events are planned this month at Sierra Place Senior Living, 1111 W. College Parkway.

Embracing Change and Aging, a group that discusses aging, coping with loss and other issues, meets at 10 a.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month, Dec. 3 and 17.

Samantha Szesciorka, who set out on the Nevada Discovery Ride on Aug. 10, will present about her journey at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 6. Szesciorka, with more than 1,100 miles under her saddle, rode through Northern Nevada.

The Douglas Dynamics, a select ensemble of vocalists from Douglas High School’s choir, will perform holiday music at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 11. The group performs a varied repertoire including acapella music, contemporary music, and pieces for chamber choir.

Mark McLaughlin’s enthusiastic look at Nevada history will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 13.

Pianist Squeak Steele will serenade Sierra Place’s New Year’s Eve party at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 31. Song requests will be taken at the front desk after Christmas.
