Comstock Cowboys perform in Fallon

Music over the last several decades has changed so often, one can’t be sure what’s “in” or “not” at any moment. David John and the Comstock Cowboy’s choose not to travel that crowded highway where music is destined to change at the whim of each generation. Instead, these artists have built their sound on a more solid foundation.

The Comstock Cowboys perform their annual Country Christmas Concert in Fallon on Sunday with two performances at the Churchill Arts Center’s Barkley Theatre. The 3 p.m. performance is almost sold out but plenty of tickets remain for the 6 p.m. show.

Tickets are $5 each and benefit the Fallon Benevolence Fund..

Their music is timeless and speaks to many generations. They perform original music, written by David John, as well as powerful songs about America, when our moral values were honest and strong. In their unique style, they sing about cowboys, horses, soldiers, the Old West and nature at it’s grandest.

John, the guiding force behind the Comstock Cowboys, was nominated songwriter and entertainer of the year by the Western Music Association. He brings his knowledge of western heritage, cowboy legends, Wild West history, and fast horses into his songs. He seems to have a knack for bringing the old west out of every one of us. Through his songs we find ourselves going back to a simpler place and time. His songs seem to reach out and touch even those who aren’t sure what western music is all about. His rich baritone voice, coupled with his original songwriting is a once-in-a-lifetime combination.
