The Carson City Sheriff’s Explorers are hosting a Spaghetti Feed on Saturday to raise money for their program.

The Explorers are putting together the dinner as a fundraiser for the program to raise money to send the young officers to competitions across the country.

The program is for students ages 14-21 who have aspirations to go into law enforcement. They work with the Sheriff’s Office at promotional events and travel across the country to compete with other Explorer officers in situations officers may experience in the field.

The Explorers have the opportunity to meet and network with other Explorers across the country as well as compete for trophies and glory.

“It expands their knowledge and training in competitions with other agencies across the country,” said Deputy Jeff Pullen, officer in charge of the Explorer program.

It will cost nearly $2,000 for the 15 Explorers to travel to their next competition in Chandler, Ariz.

The dinner will be held Dec. 17 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office Ormsby Room. The dinner will be $5 for a plate of spaghetti, garlic bread and salad and all money raised will go to the program.
