Mary R. (DeDe) Westerberg, of Carson City, Nevada, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her residence in Skyline Estates. The cause of death was heart failure.


“Mom” was born Mary Rangel on July 8, 1920 in Santa Monica, California to Gilbert and Syndia (Olveria) Rangel.


Mom enjoyed a long career in the Aerospace Industry of Southern California, including McDonnell Douglas, Hughes & Boeing. She supervised over 100 individuals responsible for the assembly of intricate circuit boards for aircraft and spacecraft.


Following her retirement and relocaton to Carson City, Mom took a position at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office where she worked for several years as Records Administrator.


Mom is survived by a sister, Linda Billman of Carson City; two sons, Donald and Michael Hanna of Southern California; one daughter, Sharon Matthews of Texas; step-daughters

Kathy Boyer and Jacque Ayers; step-son Terry Westerberg of Southern California; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Mom was an active and devoted member of St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and a contributor to several charities.


Her family would like to thank all of her wonderful friends in Carson City, and are deeply grateful for all of her caregivers at Skyline Estates Assisted Living. Their love and admiration of our Mother has been a great comfort for Mom and to all of us who love her.


Mom was a kind and loving person, a truly great lady.
