Lahore, Pakistan, Aug. 3 — UP — An Italian mountain climbing team today reported the successful conquest of the world’s second highest peak, K2, Mt. Godwin Austen — the Himalayan “killer mountain” whose snow-clad heights and howling storms had defeated five previous expeditions.
