Eagles and Agriculture selling fast

Eagles and Agriculture is coming up, and tickets are going fast for the four-day event.

Some of the events have already sold out, and Bill Chernock, executive director of the Douglas County chamber said it’s important to get tickets early.

The opening reception and photography exhibit in the Grandview Room at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center will be Feb. 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for $10 a person.

The work of wildlife photographers will be displayed and there will be a visit from a goshawk and prairie falcon.

Light Hors d’ouevres will be served and there will be a cash bar available.

On Friday Feb. 19 there will be an ‘Eagles and Agriculture Falconers’ dinner for $40 a person from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

This event will give an up-close look at various hawks and raptors and a chance to meet their handlers as well as a dinner provided by the Carson Valley Inn.

On Saturday Feb. 20 there will be a chartered bus ‘Eagle/Ranch Tour and Luncheon’ for $70 a person.

The tour will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon following and concluding around 1 p.m.

It will take participants on a private behind the scenes tour of area ranches, and a chance to view and photograph eagles, hawks, owls and birds of prey.

After that, there will be an ‘Ins and Outs of Agriculture’ tour from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at $50 a person.

That tour will offer a behind the scenes look at the challenges and realities of agriculture.

On Sunday Feb. 21 they will have another chance to participate in the ‘Eagle/Ranch Tour and Luncheon’ from 8 to 11:30 a.m. with the luncheon following.

There will also be a ‘Ranch Tour; Comstock Seed Company’ from 8 to 11:30 a.m. for $50 a person.

The Comstock Seed Company has a business model which replaces the traditional cow/calf ranch. The tour will focus on the many uses of the land and the traditional respect for the land and water available.
