Northside Early Learning Center celebrated families and literacy by hosting an early morning “Pastries for Parents” on Feb. 12. Parents and children celebrated with an early morning event where parents could come to school and enjoy breakfast and reading with their children. Families selected a book to read and take home to promote the importance of reading. CCSD Board Members Rich Gent, Matt Hyde and Greg Koenig were at NELC to participate in the event by assisting teachers and families with food, reading and supporting early reading habits. NELC has over 180 students that range in ages from 3-6. The school focuses on reading readiness, mathematics and social-emotional development. Throughout the year NELC has hosted numerous family events where the focus is on building early childhood skills and relationships.
