Douglas boys fall to Reno

RENO — Despite double-digit scoring performances from Jace Hart, Jordan Warren and Dylan Hinks, the Douglas Tigers came up on the short end of a 67-56 score against the Reno Huskies Wednesday night in the opening round of the Northern Division I Region Tournament.

Reno led 19-9 after one quarter and 35-20 at halftime. Douglas pulled to within 47-37 at the end of the third quarter.

Douglas, the Sierra League’s No. 4 seed (8-8 league record), closed the book on its season with a 9-16 overall record.

Hart finished with 13 points and three assists to lead Douglas offensively. Hinks added 12 on four 3-pointers and Warren 11. Zach Kellar also had eight points and three assists while Tre Jackson scored seven for the Tigers.

Reno (19-6 overall) has won 12 of 13 games in 2016 and given up an average of 54.0 points in those games.

The Huskies now advance into an all-High Desert League semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Friday night against McQueen. Carson and Galena will meet at 7:15 p.m. in the other semifinal.
