The Virginia City boys basketball team’s season came to an end Friday one game short of a state tournament berth in a 46-20 loss to Hawthorne in the Northern Division IV semifinals at Wooster.
Virginia City coach Tom Mauer said considering his team’s 0-9 start and the fact it had eight sophomores and four juniors, it was quite a successful season for his squad.
Colt Hess led the Muckers against Hawthorne with five points.
