Carson City Sheriff’s Office: New Years weekend keeps officers busy

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.

Carson City

THURSDAY

At 3:35 p.m., Curtis Helton, 50, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies responded to reports of possible drug activity near the 1800 block of Carson Street. Bail was set at $4,100.

At 6:15 p.m., Aaron Rasavage, 37, of Gardnerville, was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and battery after deputies responded to reports of two men fighting near the 2400 block of Lockheed Way. Reports stated that the suspect allegedly hit another man with a shovel. Deputies arrested Rasavage at his residence in Gardnerville later that afternoon. Bail was set at $21,000.

At 7:55 p.m., a 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest without violence and bicycle equipment violation after deputies attempted to initiate a consensual stop near Empire Ranch Road and Highway 50. The man ran from police across the highway and onto a residential roof. Bail was set at $300.

At 11:43 p.m., a 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI-first offense, expired plates and disobedience to a traffic control device after deputies initiated a traffic stop near the 800 block of Saliman Road. Bail was set at $1,065.

FRIDAY

At 1:43 a.m., a 32-year-old Lake Tahoe man was arrested on suspicion of DUI-first offense, speeding 11-15 over and driving with a suspended license after deputies initiated a traffic stop near the 1400 block of Carson Street. Bail was set at $1,563.

At 3:17 a.m., a 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct, possession/discharge of fireworks and obstructing after deputies observed a man shooting a firework near Proctor and Plaza streets. At the same incident, a 24-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested on suspicion of obstructing and possession of fireworks. Bail for the 21-year-old was set at $950 and bail for the 24-year-old was set at $300.

At 2:15 p.m., a 36-year-old Perry, Georgia, woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery, two counts of contempt of court and failure to appear after deputies responded to the William Street Taco Bell for a couple fighting at the nearby Starbucks. At 6:10 p.m. the next day, the woman was rearrested on suspicion of annoying/obscene/threatening phone calls after deputies received reports that she was calling her ex-husband and threatening to kill him inside the Carson City jail. Bail was set at $3,921.

At 4:22 p.m., Mark Schleiger, 55, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, felony trafficking of a controlled substance 4-14 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription, disobedience of a traffic control device, driving on a revoked driver’s license and failure to appear traffic after deputies initiated a traffic stop at the William Street Smith’s. Bail was set at $25,635.

At 4:57 p.m., a 26-year-old Sacramento, Calif., man was arrested on suspicion of criminal contempt after deputies responded to reports of a possible domestic situation at the 4700 block of Carson Street. Bail was set at $375.

SATURDAY

At 3:08 a.m., a 53-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of DUI-first offense after deputies responded to reports of a woman laying in the snow near Snyder Avenue and Silver Sage Drive. The suspect drove up when deputies were talking with the woman and deputies allegedly suspected him of being intoxicated. Bail was set at $1,000.

At 9:48 a.m., a 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of passing checks without funds after deputies responded to the 400 block of Winnie Lane for an unrelated issue. Bail was set at $500.

At 2:47 p.m., a 40-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of contempt of court warrant, expired vehicle registration, two counts of child restraints required and driving without a valid driver’s license near Roop and Telegraph streets. Bail was set at $1,820.

At 5:21 p.m., a 36-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of child neglect/endangerment, DUI-first offense, headlights required, no valid driver’s license and open container after deputies initiated a traffic stop near Idaho Street and Fairview Drive. Bail was set at $3,725.

At 7:20 p.m., a 53-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of violation of bail conditions after deputies conducted a business check at the Carson Street Jackpot Casino. Bail was set at $3,000.

At 9:55 p.m., Luis Fuentes, 26, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and violation of a suspended sentence after deputies initiated a consensual stop near the Highway 50 Dotty’s Casino. Bail was set at $6,500.

At 10:49 p.m. Edward Chaney, 26, of Carson City was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic battery by strangulation, domestic battery-second offense and resisting a peace officer near the 1000 block of Roland Street. Bail was set at $25,300.

At 10:57 p.m., an 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana less than one ounce, possession of drug paraphernalia, seat belt required and violation of probation after deputies initiated a traffic stop near the 1400 block of William Street. Bail was set at $4,625.

SUNDAY

At 12:25 a.m., a 24-year-old Mound House woman was arrested on suspicion of violation of bail conditions after deputies responded to reports of a woman running into traffic near Highway 50 and Drako Way. Bail was set at $3,000.

At 1:33 a.m., a 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of failure to report accident, obstructing and minor consuming alcohol after deputies responded to reports of a rollover accident at College Parkway and the I-580 on ramp. The suspect attempted to run from the scene but was apprehended by deputies in the Home Depot parking lot. Bail was set at $950.

At 2:34 a.m., Timothy Webb, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance for purpose of sale after deputies responded to reports of a man at the Carson Street Woody’s Casino who was not supposed to be there. No bail was set.

At 7:47 a.m., a 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested on a disorderly conduct warrant after deputies initiated a traffic stop near College Parkway and Nye Street. Bail was set at $500.

At 4:49 p.m., a 62-year-old Carson City man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and elder abuse after deputies responded to reports of a man allegedly hitting his 82-year-old mother at the Carson Street America’s Best Value Inn. Bail was set at $10,000.

At 7:26 p.m., a 42-year-old Carson City woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of suspended sentence after deputies responded to reports of a woman passed out at a Carson Street casino. The woman was transported to Carson-Tahoe Regional Medical Center because she was unresponsive to deputies where a methamphetamine pipe was found on her. Bail was set at $4,000.

The Nevada Appeal only names people arrested on suspicion of felonies and violent crimes. Carson City Secret Witness will pay up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals committing crimes. Anyone with information is asked to call 775-322-4900.
