Carson High puts its unbeaten league record on the line today at 7 p.m. when it visits Bishop Manogue in a key Sierra League boys basketball game.

Carson, 15-5 overall and 9-0 in Northern Division 1 play, is 2.5 games ahead of the Miners and four clear of Douglas entering tonight’s game.

At 5:15, the Carson girls take on league-leading Manogue. The Senators are tied for third in league play with Douglas. Both teams are 4-5.

The Senators beat Manogue twice in double-overtime last year, the second double-OT win propelling the team into the regional finals.

Carson is led by Asa Carter (13.2), Jayden DeJoseph (12.6) and Tez Allen (10.5). All three shoot over 50 percent from the floor.

Carson is playing stellar defense, holding opponents to 45 points a contest, but that mark goes down to 40 in league contests. Carson is holding teams to 36 percent mark from the field in all games and 25 percent from 3-point range. Only one team, Galena, has scored more than 50 points (54) in league play against the Senators.

Carson’s biggest issue has been free-throw shooting. The Senators are shooting just 58 percent for the season.
