Escaped Convict Comes to Fallon. A convict jumped from a moving train as they were passing Laughton Springs. After jumping from the train in the snow, wading or swimming The Truckee River twice and walking to Fallon he led the Fallon officers on a merry chase. The man showed up in Fallon Wednesday night where he found anything but a welcome. He made his way to the home of his wife in Fallon but his sister-in-law held a gun on him and sent for the officers. He was finally captured.

Battling With Snow. Drivers between Fallon and Wonder are having difficulties in the wind and snow. The wind was blowing at a fierce rate and with the drifting snow it was extremely difficult to keep on the road.

Flood Waters Usually Come Down Late. The additional snow this week may leas may to conjecture on the amount of water that is likely to come down the Carson River when the snow begins to melt.

Judge Advises Cattle Buyer to Leave State. Cattle buyers from California had better stay out of Nevada unless they have money in the bank when they write checks, Judge Clark Guild announced in district court.

Income Tax Man Here Tomorrow. H. E. Smith, deputy in the office of R. L. Douglass, internal revenue collector for Nevada, will be in Fallon tomorrow, Friday and Saturday to assist Churchill county people with their income tax statements.

Safeway to Open New Store. New services will include an in-store bakery and a non-food department. The Meat Department will be of the latest self-service type with all meat cut and wrapped in full view of the public. Lloyd Warbington, presently manager of the Safeway store on South Maine Street, has been promoted to manager of the new Safeway store.
