The Carson City Board of Supervisors is looking to fill volunteer openings on three city bodies — the Redevelopment Authority Citizens and Open Space Advisory committees and Parks and Recreation Commission.

A position as business operator or property owner in Redevelopment Area 1 is open on the Carson City Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee.

The committee makes recommendations to the Redevelopment Authority on redevelopment area plans, incentive programs, special event funding, and other matters pertaining to the redevelopment district. It meets quarterly, but meetings may be scheduled monthly. A commitment of up to 10 hours a month is expected.

The position expires Jan. 1, 2019. Applications are due by Feb. 19; interviews will be held at the first Board of Supervisors meeting — on the first or third Thursday of the month — after receipt of qualified applications.

Two positions, each expiring in January 2020, are open on the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee, whose goal is to promote the quality of life for citizens of Carson City through the preservation and protection of the natural environment.

Meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every other month in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 5. Interviews will be at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18.

To volunteer to serve in one of two openings on the Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission, apply by Feb. 5.

The Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every other month to advise the Board of Supervisors about the use of city parks. Its members expect to make a minimum commitment of up to 10 hours every other month. Openings expire in January 2020. The Board of Supervisors will conduct interviews at its meeting on Thursday, Feb. 18.

Applicants must be Carson City registered voters to qualify to serve with any of the three groups.

Volunteer applications are at Carson City Executive Offices, 201 N. Carson St., Suite 2.
