May 17, 1922 ~ July 9, 2016

My mother and my best friend, Lyla Mill passed away July 9, 2016, at the age of 94, at the Lodge in Carson City, NV.

Lyla was born May 17,1922 In Sutro, NV to Piacentino (Pete) and Tetide Perondi.

Moving to Dayton, NV as a teenager Lyla married the love of her life Harry Mill in 1941. They eventually moved to Carson City and Lyla went to work for the NV Department of Motor Vehicles. Then her husband, Harry, who worked for Isabel Construction Company got transferred to other states continuing his work in road construction and Lyla went with him.

In 1966 she lost her husband to an illness, at which time she came back to Carson City and back to her job with the Department of Motor Vehicles retiring from there after thirty years in 1990.

Throughout her life, Lyla’s passion was bowling. She bowled for sixty years on numerous leagues. Lyla was a lifelong animal lover. By far her best quality was that she was a friend to all she met, with her dry sense of humor she brought joy into those around her. She will be greatly missed by her son and her friends.

Lyla was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Mill, two brothers, Alfred and Oliver Perondi.

She is survived by her son, Rod Mill and her sole surviving brother, Bert Perondi, also numerous nieces and nephews.

Lyla will be laid to rest beside her husband in Carson Gardens Cemetery. In keeping with her wishes there will be no service.

Lyla’s son, Rod, wishes to offer a special thanks to the people at the Lodge for all their compassionate care of Lyla during her stay there and a heartfelt thanks to the people at Gentiva Hospice for their support in Lyla’s last days.

Donations may be made in Lyla’s honor to the local Humane Society.
