TOCCATA bringing Mozart in the Mountains series to Carson City Aug. 10

Carson City and surrounding areas are hosting TOCCATA — Symphony Orchestra and Chorus’s Mozart in the Mountains series.

Continuing the 21-concert Summer MusicFest, the series is building on TOCCATA’s 11th anniversary celebration.

The program opens with Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major, performed by soloist Alex Eisenberg.

Selections from Mozart’s “happiest” mass, Coronation Mass KV 317, will be performed with soloists Becky Earl and Anne Davidson, sopranos; Brad Perry, tenor; and Chris Nelson, baritone.

Also on the program is Mozart’s Laudate Dominum from the Vespers KV339. Closing the concert will be Miyuki Otani, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 17 in G major.

The first concert of the series is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 341 Village Blvd. in Incline Village.

Other concerts are at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 S. in Carson City; and 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Ave. in South Lake Tahoe. The final presentation will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 at South Reno Methodist Church, 200 DeSpain Lane in Reno.

Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

Tickets are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. General admission is $25 for adults and $20 for seniors. Youth/students under 24 with valid ID are $5 for seating 10 minutes prior to concert time in general seating. Under 18 enter free. Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students.
