A Carson City Deputy District Attorney has been named to Nevada Business Magazine’s 2016 Legal Elite.

Deputy DA Orrin Johnson was chosen as one of Nevada’s top attorney’s in Nevada as determined by peer rankings and independent examination by the magazine.

Johnson has been with Carson City’s District Attorney’s Office since last October, and DA Jason Woodbury said he deserves this distinction.

“We hit Orrin with a full case load of highly sensitive, highly complex cases as soon as he walked through our door, because we knew he could handle it,” Woodbury said. “His trial instincts are as good as I’ve seen. More importantly, Orrin is honest and fair.”

Before coming to Carson, the 39-year-old attorney was the Senior Deputy District Attorney in Lyon County, a Deputy Public Defender in Washoe County and a veteran with the United States Navy.

“The role of a criminal prosecutor, first and foremost, is to seek justice, not just to ‘win’ cases,” said Johnson. “I love the work I do, but cannot deny the sometimes intimidating nature of that calling. I am humbled that my peers feel we live up to that obligation here in Carson City to the best of our abilities.

“The team I get to work with is dedicated to bringing justice to victims of crime, those accused of crime, and our communities as a whole, and I am incredibly grateful to work with such professionals.”

This is the sixth time Johnson has been recognized as one of Nevada’s top government attorneys since 2009.
