Top Gun racers cut times for Octane Fest

Here are the results from the eighth installment of the Summit E.T. racing series at Top Gun Raceway from last weekend.


Saturday:

Paul Cox came out on top in the first day of the Sportsman series over Tami Phillips’ 73 Duster, 12.577 TO 13.231.

Alvin Clarke returned to the winner’s circle in the fourth and final race of the Pro finals in his 78 Camaro (12.462) inching out against Reno’s David Dubose in his ‘70 Roadrunner (12.723).

In a race between two of Fallon’s own, veteran Frank Barrett (10,768) came up shy against Larry Lester (10.053) in the finals of the SuperPro series. Barrett, though, seized his second chance at a win for the day in the King of the Track finals again Dubose (10,818 to 12.644).

Walt Stacey in his 1983 Mustang dominated Jim Crowe’s 65 Fairlane by a second and change, (13.050 to 14.639) in the Manufacturer series.

In the SuperComp finals, Allison McKoane scraped away with a win against Concord, Calif., Justin Morgan (9.336 to 9.357).


Sunday:

Edward Young in his 1985 Chevy defeated Fernley’s Jim Setterberg in his 1984 GMC in the finals of the Sportsman series (8.055 to 8.454). Walt still leads the Sportmans series at 629 points followed Phillips in second (530). Setterberg is fourth (464) while young claims sixth (370).

Fallon’s Jim Grace came back for a win in his 69 Camaro against Sparks’ Kevin Morris donning the 67 Chevy Nova (6.112 TO 6.756) in the Pro finals. Jim Grace leads (600) followed by Clarke (523) while Morris is fourth (408).

Grace brother Lonnie Grace also had success in his 02 Cavalier winning over Barrett in the SuperPro finals (5.718 to 7.154), ending Barrett’s weekend with no second day of King of the Track. Lonnie Grace leads SuperPro (582) followed by Barrett (417). Morgan lost his second chance at the SuperComp finals, this time to Danny Valadez’ Dragster (9.279 to 9.326).
