Auditions for V&T melodrama ‘Train to Danger’ are June 21 in Carson City

Lollipop Productions in conjunction with the V&T Railway is holding open auditions on June 21 for the old time melodrama “Train to Danger,” written by John Burkhart.

In “Train to Danger,” railroad heiresses, the Pullman sisters, are stranded in a snowstorm in Hidden Gulch. Tom Truetrack, a handsome engineer, is to see to their safety during their trip home. The villain, Simon Sidetrack, is plotting to gain control of the railroad by marrying the oldest Pullman sister, but she spurns his advances. Simon’s concocts and evil plot to abscond with the sister’s inheritance money.

All performances take place on two of the V&T Railway cars as they take passengers on a ride along the rails. Two separate five-member casts will perform in each of the passenger cars. There are roles for six women and four men ages 16 or older.

Auditions, which require cold readings from the script, are at 6:30 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot, 4650 Eastgate Siding Road in Carson City.

Performance dates are Aug. 13 and Sept. 10, with a potential third performance on Oct. 8. Rehearsals will be held at the depot on Tuesday nights and another weeknight based on cast availability. The play’s actors will receive an honorarium for their performances.
