An eight-piece live band complete with a horn section and costumes will liven up Minden Park on Friday, June 17.

Nathan Owens Motown and Soul Review will take the stage from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The band plays hits by The Spinners, Four Tops, Sam & Dave, The Temptations, and others. Its members impersonate artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson and Tina Turner.

The performance is part of Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department’s 2016 GE Family Concert Series and cosponsored by Edgewood Companies.

The annual series offers free family music at the outdoor gazebo in the center of downtown Minden. The series is sponsored by contributions by area businesses and organizations.

Other performances planned this summer are Jelly Bread on July 15; Catch a Wave, a tribute to the Beach Boys, on Aug. 5; and Foreigner Unauthorized on Aug. 26.

All performances are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with the exception of the concert on Aug. 26, which starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 8.

Concessions by Kiwanis Club of Carson Valley and the Carson Valley Lions Club will be available for purchase.

Children must be supervised at all times, and dogs are not permitted. Fifth Street will be closed during the events to allow motor homes parking and concessions. RV parking will be allowed in a designated area only starting at 9 a.m. on the day of the concerts; an RV pass, available by calling 775-782-5500, ext. 1, is required.

RV parking at other locations around the park obscures the line of sight for Minden homeowners around the park.

No lawn space can be reserved or sectioned off until 7 a.m. on the day of the concert, when reserved sections can be no larger than 10 feet by 10 feet each. Blankets are not permitted on the lawn until after 5 p.m. on the day of the event.

For more information, call the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department at 775-782-5500, ext. 1.
