Vernon Eugene Wackerly, age 75, of Carson City, NV, was called home on May 17, 2016. He was born on May 24, 1940 in Oakland, CA to Manco William Wackerly and Elizabeth Irene (Woodard) Wackerly. Vernon graduated in 1958 from Hayward High School, in Hayward, CA. During high school, he competed in high school rodeo and earned several awards in bull riding. After graduation he joined the US Army where he was stationed in Guam. In the following years he was a supervisor for the Port of Oakland, after which he pursued a degree in Animal Science in Oklahoma and at the University of Nevada, Reno. Vernon also worked as a silver smith and mined gemstones, diamonds, and quartz across the

nation. Vern spent every spare moment on trout streams and rivers as he was an avid fly fisherman. He had a passion for reading and can only be described as a free spirit. He was the happiest when surrounded by nature and God was his only master. His final years were spent with close friends in the wide open spaces of Nevada. Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, John and Minnie Francis Wackerly and Dave and Pearl Woodard, nephews, Leon

Eugene Aaron and Troy William Walchli Jr., and special friend, Carol Andersen.He is survived by his children Jimmy and Mark Wackerly, Anna Marie, Brenda Lee, Denise Dalpiaz. and Kristy Lehman; sisters Francis Pearl Stanley, Janet L. Havill (Michael); foster siblings Kenneth Lewis ( Judy), Benet Johnson ( Gerald); nephews Troy Walchli, Matthew Craig, William Johnson, and Levi Johnson as well as a host of grandchildren, extended family and the many friends he made along the way.
