Alvin “Al” Curtis Dorman, 83, of Carson City, died March 4, 2016 of natural causes. Al was born Sept 23, 1932 in Yale Oklahoma to Harvey and Bertha Dorman.


At a young age Al and his family moved to Tonakwa, Oklahoma where he was raised and spent most of his childhood. In his late teens Al moved to Idaho, and in 1951 he joined the Idaho Army National Guard. He spent 4 years active duty serving in the Korean War, and an additional 2 years stationed in Germany. After military retirement, Al relocated to Washington, Idaho and eventually settled in Carson City, Nevada. It is in Carson City that Al reconnected with his childhood sweetheart and married his wife of 27 years Rose Mary Dorman. Al retired after 25 years as a liquor representative for Silver State Liquor in Reno, Nevada.


Al was a passionate amatuer gold dredger and avid golfer. He enjoyed a simple home life and old time western movies. One of his biggest loves of his life included working with the VFW and his beloved Shriner lodge, where he had attained 33rd degree.


Al is preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Bertha Dorman, his sisters Eva Mae Stephenson and Evelyn Wood and his brother Richard Dorman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Rose Mary Dorman, his son Rick Dorman, his daughter Bev Leitaker, his sister Leona Serrotos, a granddaughter and several great grandchildren.


A service will be held at Carson Lodge #1, at 113 E Washington Street, Carson City Nevada, on Saturday June 25th at 11:00am. A light luncheon will immediately follow.
