A six-piece band whose goal is to bring new life to country favorites is visiting Minden’s Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30.

Sagebrush Rebels, formed last year, are taking the stage in the park’s next summer concert.

The group’s lead vocalist, Cherie Shipley, is an area singer and entertainer. She has presented many show bands of all styles since the 1980s. Her alto voice can also be heard in local jazz venues.

Fiddler Catherine Matovich is a member of the Reno Philharmonic. She also plays in a San Francisco-based Cajun band. Bassist Brad Lund, like Matovich, also plays in the Reno Philharmonic. He has years of performing experience with a local bluegrass band.

Nancy Barker, who plays keyboards, has a long show history backing well-known artists, including Helen Reddy, Glen Campbell, Ronnie Milsap, and The Coasters. Guitarist Mark McKinnon, with roots in Tennessee, also lists record producer as one of his talents.

Rounding out the sextet is Ben Reino on drums. With a voice reminiscent of Vince Gill, Reino has nine years of experience playing in Nashville.

Tickets are $5 for adults and free for ages 16 and younger. Tickets are available in Gardnerville at Battle Born Wine, in Minden at 88 Cups & More, and they also can be purchased at dangberg.eventbrite.com. Unless sold out, tickets will be available at the gate. Members of the nonprofit Friends of Dangberg Home Ranch can attend at no charge.

The park is at 1450 Highway 88, south of the Carson Valley Swim Center. The outdoor event invites attendees to bring their own seating, though chairs will be available for a fee. Beer, wine and snacks will be available for purchase. Dogs are not permitted.
