Coyote Hunt Sunday. The big coyote hunt is to take place tomorrow, Sunday the 19th, under the auspices of the Greenhead club. President Cress states that the men of town and vicinity are to meet on Maine Street and be ready to start at 8 o’clock.

Estimate of E. S. Sans who is Waging War Against Coyotes. One Coyote in 10 has rabies, according to E. S. Sans who has charge of the government biological survey work in Nevada. Governor Boyle has promised to establish a quarantine on dogs between the northern and southern portions of the state.

Rabid Coyote Bites 12 Cattle in 15 Minutes. Since the breaking up of the winter the rabid coyote situation seems to have gotten more serious in Humboldt County. The latest report on the situation comes from the Bullhead ranch when a coyote entered a field where a large number of cattle were being fed and succeeded in biting over twelve head before the vaqueros in charge of the stock could use their ropes and kill the animal.

Red Cross in War Time. Red Cross in War Time is the theme of Monday’s meeting. Stepping up the various activities was the general theme of the talk by Dale F. Ely, Nevada field representative. Among the departments which are to see increased activity are first aid instruction, swimming and life saving courses. An emergency closet is being set up in the basement of “The Fallon Standard” building where space has been donated for storing first aid kits and other materials to be available for immediate use in case of an emergency.

Old Age Pension Bill is Passed. Senate Bill No. 13, the old age pension bill of which Senator Ralph W. Lattin was one of ten sponsors, was passed by the assembly Thursday afternoon to provide a maximum of $40 and a minimum of $30 per month for persons over the age of 65.

Sheriff Plans Open House to Show Jail Conditions. George Wilkins, Sheriff of Churchill County, is holding an open house at the Churchill County Jail in order that the citizens of the County can see the deplorable conditions of the jail.

Jail Tour Attracts Small Crowd. Only 40-50 people out of some 11,000 people in Churchill County took advantage of Sheriff George Wilkin’s invitation to take a tour of Churchill County’s jail facilities, but those that did were appalled by the cramped conditions and the crumbling building.

Flu on the Increase in Fallon. The incidence of flu in the county school system has increased since last week, but has certainly not assumed alarming proportions.

485 Students Remain Out of School. Absenteeism in Churchill Public Schools totaled 485 today, with the same number of students absent last Friday.
