The Fallon Lions Club awarded $11,500 to the Churchill County Youth Softball Association. Karl Buckmaster, president of the group, gave a presentation about needing new crushed brick/clay dirt in the infield to provide a safer playing surface for the players. CCYSA will be repairing the pitching lanes and adding one more. They they will also be fixing the fencing around the field.

The Fallon club helped to create this field, and it has been called the Lions Softball Field since the 1970s. On Saturday, the Fallon Lions presented-a-larger-than-life check to Buckmaster for the $11,500 donation so that the community of parents and ballplayers know where part of the funds came from to help refurbish the local field. The CCYSA also received help from the city of Fallon, which had $10,000 of its own put toward the 2$4,600 project.
