You are probably thinking, oh gosh, our CAPS column has just become another tabloid gossip sheet. Well, it’s the truth; Brad Pitt visits our dog park frequently. He’s shirtless, muscular and handsome. Brad also loves to roughhouse and play with the regulars at our Fallon dog park. Brad is a handsome pit bull who is a bundle of energy and joy. In fact, he is a favorite of the play-around set.

If you haven’t visited the Fallon dog park, you are missing a great bunch of folks and dogs. I am constantly awed by the kindness of everyone. Everyone welcomes newcomers, and even the shyest dogs eventually feel part of the group. It is like an extension of family.

To celebrate the Easter season, several of the regulars decided to have a doggie-type egg hunt. Ellie distributed dog bones throughout the grass, and all the dogs were set free to find the bones. Needless to say, the dogs were on the hunt for goodies. I was embarrassed when Watson gobbled down several of the bones that Freckles had discovered. Anyway, everyone had a good time.

We have started a collar tree at the dog park and urge everyone with old dog collars to contribute to our effort. Everyone has seen a shoe tree, but how about a dog collar tree? We were just discussing shoe trees when the idea of a collar tree popped up. After discussion we decided why not? So if you are so inclined, check out the park and collar tree.

I am constantly reminded of the sweetness of our small town and all of the caring folks who live here. It is kindness that makes our lives better and more worthwhile. Fallon truly is the small town with a big heart!

WHO’S WHO

Our Who’s Who this week is Alice Harrison, who graciously cleans the small dog park. She has made it her mission to keep the small dog park clean and poop free. Alice is also a big hero because she rescued all three of her dogs. All the dog park regulars, who appreciate your efforts so much, send a big thank you. CAPS thanks you for being a good citizen: a four-paws salute to you!

WHO’S NEW AT THE CAPS’ ZOO?

Riley and Keva are lovely one-year-old Lab-mix girls. They are ready for fun and a forever-after home. If you like friendly, loveable and cute dogs, these are your girls. Come out for a play date with two of the cutest playmates you’ll ever meet.

We also have kitties ready for their new homes. Policy, however, prohibits adopting out puppies or kittens under the age of six months to a home with children under five years of age. This is to protect both the children and the animal.

CAPS’ NEWS AND EVENTS

CAPS will be at Walmart on April 16 along with adorable Ki at our Kissin’ Booth. There may also be a “mystery” kisser. Please come by and give our boys a big hug and kiss. We have hoodies, sweatshirts and caps, so please check them out before or after greeting our canine volunteers.

Flower Tree Nursery is again raffling a 15-gallon tree of your choice. The drawing date is June 15, and the winner doesn’t have to be present to win. Raffle tickets are available at Flower Tree, and they are $1 for one ticket and $5 for six tickets.
