There’s a new farmer’s market in town.

Starting today, a farmer’s market on Curry Street will be open every Wednesday 4-8 p.m. through Oct. 26. Parking is available in the 3rd and Curry streets parking lot.

Plans are to expand the market onto Bob McFadden Plaza once the open-air venue on 3rd Street between Curry and Carson streets is completed in July.

The market is being launched by Doug Cramer, owner, Mom & Pops Diner, and operated by Lake Tahoe Markets, which runs a Thursday market in Incline Village and a Friday market in Stateline.

The market will start with a few vendors, including RHJ Organic from Watsonville, Calif., and Schletewitz Family Farms, a stone fruit farmer in Fresno. But Steve Rozier, owner, Lake Tahoe Markets, said new vendors will be added weekly, and Cramer said plans are to have booths for crafts and fine art as well as produce.

A local bluegrass/folk duo will be on hand to entertain and Mom & Pop’s is now opening for dinner on Wednesdays until 8 p.m.

Vendors can go online to www.laketahoemarkets.com for information about participating.
