The Sierra Inline Hockey League has opened registration for its youth league.

The youth league is a no-contact league focused on team building, physical activity and fun.

The fees are as followes:

• Instructional League, 8 and under, is $45,

• Instructional League 9 and over is $45.

• Youth League is $95.

• High school is $95.

Goalies play for free and equipment is included. All practices and games are at Teixeira Pavilion. All players must have insurance which costs $14 and must be purchased through aausports.org.

Ice skating set for

Greater Nevada Field

Ice skating returns to Greater Nevada Field starting Nov. 9. The rink, located in front of Greater Nevada Field, will remain open until Jan. 28 depending on the weather.

Skating starts at 6 p.m. on the first night and goes until 10 p.m. Normal hours will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday though Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $8 for skaters between 13 and 54, $6 for kids 3-12 and $6 for adults 55 and over. Skate rental is $4 per person.

Rams, Cardinals

reach flag finals

The Rams and Cardinals advanced to the finals of the Talents Indoor Flag Football Tournament with easy wins over the weekend.

The Rams topped the Cowboys 54-24 and the Cardinals dominated the Steelers 61-33.

Joey Altermerano threw six TD passes and Carlos Conchas scored six times to lead the Rams. Sean Finn led the Çowboys with a TD pass and a TD.

The Cardinals’ Trevor Marlin threw for six scores and added four other TDs, and Javier Arrellano and Kory Grist tallied four times each. Jacob Hanson threw four TD passes and Christian Smith scored thrice for the Steelers.

The championship game and third-place game are Sunday at Talents.


Gold Pass memberships

available at Eagle Valley

There are 100 Gold Pass memberships currently available at Eagle Valley Golf Course.

The cost is $1,680 which includes unlimited golf on either course with a cart plus plenty of extras. Monthly payments can be arranged.

New for 2017 is a Summer Season pass (May 1 to Oct. 31) and a Family Gold membership.

Mick, Masiello win

Empire scramble

Gary Mick and John Masiello teamed for a net 55 to win the 2-man scramble for Flight A at the recent Empire Ranch Senior Men’s Club on Oct. 26.

Ivan Lepire and Bill Milligan also shot 55, but lost on a tiebreaker, and Dennis Justin and Geoff Swann were third with a 56.

John Lewis and Nick Paul shot 52 to win Flight B in a tiebreaker over Joe O’Brien and Ray McPartlinn. Ray Huntley and Joe Gibson were third with a 53. Bruce Serpe and Vic Rocha shot 55 to win Flight C via a tiebreaker over Art Skipworth and John Sullivan. Maurice Dias and Jack Medeiros were third with a 56.

Carl Slate, Mel Ness, Wade Walker and Terry Thomas won closest to the hole awards.


Tourney set for

Carson Valley

The annual Turkey Shoot tournament is set for Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.

The cost is $40, which includes green fee, cart, $10 prize fund and soup. The format is the best 15 holes.
