MINDEN — A fast start on Tuesday night put the Douglas Tigers on track to a 3-1 victory against McQueen in an opening round Northern 4A Region Tournament match.
The Tigers won by set scores of 25-15, 25-13, 22-25, 25-11 at Randy Green Court.
Douglas (24-9) advanced to the tournament semifinals and a 7 p.m. match against High Desert League champion Spanish Springs that will be played at Galena High School in Reno. McQueen ends its season with a 17-13 record.
This marks the third straight year Douglas has defeated the Lancers in the region tournament’s first round. The Tigers went onto win the 2014 region title and lost in the semifinals last year against Carson.
Spanish Springs (32-7) moved onto the semifinals with a 3-0 sweep at home against Galena on Tuesday. The Cougars won 25-11, 25-21, 25-17.
