Annual Elks Hoop Shoot to return Jan. 7

Kids ages 8-13 are called to participate in Carson City Elks Lodge’s free Hoop Shoot on Jan. 7 at the Multi-purpose Athletic Center, 1860 Russell Way.

The contest offers 25 free throws per student. The winners advance to the district event in Reno, followed by the state event in Hawthorne; then regionals in Las Vegas and nationals in Chicago, Ill., where the winner will be awarded a $25,000 scholarship.

Registration is from 9 to 9:20, with the contest starting at 9:30 a.m.

Participants must be of age before April 1, 2017 to qualify. Tennis shoes are mandatory.

Prep basketball tourney

at Bishop Manogue

The 13th Annual Wild West Shootout is set for December 1-3 at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School.

The Wild West Shootout brings together top high school basketball teams from throughout the West.

This year’s teams include Bishop Manogue, Douglas, Folsom, Jesuit, Lowry, St. Mary’s-Stockton, Servite and Spanish Springs.

The tournament begins at 2 p.m. on December 1 and runs through the championship game at 3:15 on December 3. For a complete schedule, visit wildwestshootoutnv.org/tournament-information/2016-schedule. All-tournament passes are $25 for adults and $15 for students, children, seniors and military. Daily passes are $10 and $6.


Gold Pass memberships

available at Eagle Valley

There are currently 100 Gold Pass memberships available at Eagle Valley for the price of $1,680.

The cost includes unlimited golf at either the West or East course with a cart. There are some other extras available. A monthly payment plan is available.

New for 2017 is the summer season membership (May 1-Oct. 31). Also, the Family Gold membership now includes grandchildren. For more information, call 887-2380.


Silver Oak memberships

for 2017 season

Silver Oak Golf Club has three memberships currently available for the 2017 season.

The annual Passport is $1,800 for individuals and $2,600 for families. It includes unlimited golf with a cart from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, member rates for up to three guests, a locker (based on availability) and 15-day advanced tee times. The Twilight Passport membership is only for posted twilight hours. It costs $1,200 for individuals and $2,000 for a family. Green fees are waived for weekly play in men’s and women’s clubs. The fee includes unlimited golf with a cart and you can make reservations 15 days in advance.

The Acorn Club costs $89 a year and it gets you reduced rates, one free round of golf and one free bucket of balls,

Season pass signup

for CVGC Dec. 15

Season passes for Carson Valley Golf Club are available for purchase starting Dec. 15 at 9 a.m.

A single membership (walker) is $950 and a single (with cart) is $1,450. A couples membership (walking) is $1,650 and a couples membership with a cart is $2,425. A junior membership is $99. If you have a private cart rate, add $375 for a single or couples pass.
