A 51-year-old Reno man died Saturday when the motorcycle he was driving collided head-on with a pickup truck.

At 3:05 p.m., deputies from Storey County Sheriff’s Office responded to the mouth of Six Mile Canyon in the area of the Mark Twain Estates in Storey County to investigate the report of a motorcycle crash. Deputies found a motorcycle that collided head-on with a pickup truck.

The investigation determined that the motorcycle was heading eastbound and driven by 51-year-old Reno resident, identified as Richard Williams, had failed to maintain the travel lane and collided head-on with a 45-year-old Dayton resident identified as Kevin Storms, who was driving westbound.

Williams died at the scene and Storms sustained minor injuries.

The motorcycle erupted in flames and burned both of vehicles before the fire was extinguished by the Central Lyon Fire Department.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Nevada Highway Patrol assisted with the investigation.
