Western Nevada College is offering several interesting non-credit courses this fall through its Community Education Division.

The courses are designed to enrich the cultural, social and recreational life of our community. Course details, fees and registration information are available at www.wnc.edu/fallonce.


Employability Skills

Meets Tuesday, Oct. 11, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. At the conclusion of this workshop, you will understand the basic skills necessary for getting, keeping, and doing well on a job. Fee: $120.


Public Speaking

Meets Wednesday, 5:30-7:30 p.m., beginning October 12. This class is about overcoming one of our greatest fears: public speaking. Cost $60


Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Meets Friday, Oct. 14, 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. This class will go over the basics of Microsoft Excel with students learning how to create a professional and useful spreadsheet. Cost: $85


Metal Yard Art

Meets Saturdays, 9 a.m.–noon, beginning Oct. 15. Come design and take home a great piece of welded yard art. Cost: $65, plus $20 supply fee payable to instructor first day of class


Contract Basics

Meets Saturday, Oct. 15, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Learn about contract basics so that you feel a little more confident next time you’re about to sign on the dotted line. Cost: $80


Meditation 3

Meets Tuesday, Oct. 18, 6-8 p.m. This class will help you strengthen and deepen your meditation practices through more advanced breathing techniques, opening and accessing the heart and creating your meditation space. Cost$ 46


Therapeutic Massage Techniques

Meets Thursday, Oct. 20, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Attend this workshop on therapeutic massage to learn how to reduce stress in the neck and shoulders, relieve tension headaches, relax tired feet, and other techniques so you can best care for yourself and loved ones. Must be 18 or older to attend class. Cost: $45


Glass Etching

Meets Friday, Oct. 21, 5:15-6:45 p.m. This class is taught in partnership with The Arts Center. In this class you will create unique designs on glass objects. Cost: $50, plus $25 supply fee payable to the instructor day of class


Learn to Knit II (Mittens)

Meets Fridays, 9-11 a.m., beginning Oct. 21. This workshop will build on basic knitting skills to create an adorable and cozy pair of mittens. Cost: $55


Building a Business from Scratch

Meets Friday, Oct. 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. This class will go over the legal framework for different business entities (sole proprietorships, corporations, non-profits), filing requirements, employee contracts, advertising, insurance, terminating a business, social media, and reviews. Cost: $200


Script-Writing Specialized

Workshop–Winter Tales

Meets Saturday, Oct. 22, 9:30-11:30 a.m. In partnership with The Arts Center, this will be a one time workshop that will focus on script-writing for a Winter Tale. Cost: $125
