A campaign to raise awareness for dogs in shelters is underway this month, which has been named Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.
Nevada Humane Society in Carson City and Reno will see more than 10,000 animals enter its shelter this year and the mission of providing care and finding homes is not over.
Besides adopting shelter dogs, the community is invited to post about Adopt a Shelter Dog on social media, donate items for pets in need, share photos of adoptable dogs on social media, or volunteer as a foster house for local homeless pets.
