Big sage brush potato: A potato was introduced to our notice yesterday which was raised in this county and which weighed seven pounds. That is doing pretty well for us alkaliars.

President Wilson has issued a proclamation designating Oct. 21 and 22 as days upon which contributions for the relief of the stricken Syrian and Armenians may be made. A nationwide effort is being made to present this appeal to the people of America and to enlist them in the work of mercy. In April, 1915, the tragedy of Armenia and Syria began. Since then, not thousands, but millions of people have suffered such hardship as has not seemed possible at the hands of the Turks and other Mohammadeans of Asia Minor.

Rumbling by Wes Davis: The campaign phrase, “Have you had enough?” is catching on fast. People seem to feel that since the war is ended, a continued control over their lives by way of government restriction, control of commodities, and so forth, is getting monotonous, to say the least.

An annual winter program to help low income Nevadans with utility bills will begin accepting applications Nov. 1. Under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, needy residents may qualify for $50 to $450 in assistance with utility bills.
