SILVER DOLLARS AND WOODEN NICKELS: Clark delivers a first for Carson City

The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Heidi Clark for being named Carson City’s 27th — and first female — Postmaster.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Scott and Ruth Moreland for their support of the Carson High soccer programs. Scott has served as the P.A. announcer for CHS soccer games for the last nine years and Ruth has been the clock operator for the last eight years. They were honored by the CHS girls soccer team during its home game on Tuesday.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High student Holly Strasser for earning the chance to compete at the National FFA Convention.

SILVER DOLLAR: To Danny Dudley and Elise Brady for being named as Carson High’s Homecoming King and Queen.

SILVER DOLLAR: To the following for their service and recognition as 2016 Community Service Award winners by the Foundation of Carson City Parks and Recreation: Donna Curtis received the Volunteer of the Year award; Lenae Dericco Volunteer of the Year award; Carson High School Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Organization of the Year; Tahoe Fence, Business of the Year.
