David F. Bash III

April 5, 1944 ~ October 15, 2016

After a long struggle with heart problems, David passed away at home in his sleep on Oct. 15, 2016. He was born in Tampa, Florida on April 5, 1944.

David loved many sports including racquetball, wallyball, and volleyball. He loved chess and was an avid reader.

David served four years in the US Air Force, and in 1966 he began a 31 year long career in Nevada juvenile corrections. First, at the Nevada Youth Training Center in Elko as a Group Supervisor, he then advanced to Senior Group Supervisor of Grant Cottage. In 1969 he moved to Reno as a youth parole counselor. He graduated from UNR in Criminal Justice in 1972, and transferred to Las Vegas. In 1978 David was appointed as the first Chief of Youth Parole. His hard work, tenacity, and organizational skills

built that agency from the ground up. As Chief he contributed to a number of organizations including the Chief Juvenile Probation Officers Association of Nevada and the Las Vegas Police and Fire Games, where he was a Board Member, coordinator, and enthusiastic participant. He also served in various capacities on several other law enforcement associations. In 1998 he retired as Deputy Administrator of Juvenile Corrections for Nevada State. In 2001 took a position in Lewiston, Idaho where he developed a residential juvenile correction institution, and served as its first Superintendent. After leaving Idaho State service, he found his niche which became the love of his later professional life in the LC Valley Circles Program in Lewiston, Idaho.

Early in 2014 David proudly accepted a position as a Circles Coach in Carson City at Capital City C.I.R.C.L.E.S. Initiative (CCCI). While serving as Coach for CCCI, David touched many lives and positively impacted all of those whom he encountered, both on the local and national level. He brought his expertise and analytical skills adding immensely to the program.

David will be greatly missed by all of us who had the opportunity to know him and share in his passion of helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bash, son David Michael Bash, daughter Andrea Palmer Elsenhaus, niece Michelle Hart, their spouses, 6 grandchildren, 4 nephews, 3 sisters-in-law and their spouses and families.

There will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist in Carson City, Nevada. Cards are welcome.
