Letters to the editor for Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016

The ones the world tries to forget

Lost on the streets,

In rains, snow and cold,

Lonely poor souls

From heaven’s fold

In a world of wealth it seems

There should be no homeless scenes

As if lepers from the past

Way too often their fate is cast

Left to wander here then there

Problems increase, burdens to bear

Downtrodden souls die on the streets

As if dust at others feet

Once loving children with hopeful dreams

Now they portray poor homeless scenes

While thousands look the other way

For downtrodden souls the angels pray

Hands touching hands one to the other

Truly we are sisters and brothers ...
