Candidates for Carson City Mayor, Board of Supervisors and School Board will meet Sept. 22 to analyze the role of arts and culture in the community.

The candidates forum on the arts, sponsored by the Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition and the Brewery Arts Center, is taking place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 22 in the BAC’s Performance Hall, 511 W. King St.

The candidates will present their positions to the voters in a question and answer format.

Questions on Carson City’s arts and culture environment will be provided to the candidates in advance, and the audience also will have an opportunity for questions and discussion.

Nancy Scott, a director and past president of the League of Women Voters of Nevada, will moderate the forum. Admission is free.

The Coalition will host an informal reception in the Performance Hall lobby for the audience and the candidates following the forum. Donations will be accepted to help support its activities supporting the arts in Carson City.

The Carson City Arts & Culture Coalition is an informal group of local artists and organizations who convene to support each other and advocate for the arts. It supports a vibrant cultural life for the community by promoting and advocating on behalf of the area’s artists and cultural institutions.
