Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley celebrating what it means to be a kid

Join the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley in celebration of the national Day for Kids initiative with carnivals and a 5K Color Run. The initiative invites adults and kids alike to celebrate what it means to be a kid.

The Silver Springs site is hosting a free carnival on Friday, Sept. 16. Another is planned in Dayton through Dayton Valley Days and Mineral County on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy face painting, carnival games, bounce houses and barbecue food at most sites. Additionally, free Boys & Girls Club membership offers and membership orientations will be available.

The Yerington site will host a free Family Night beginning at 6 p.m. Sept. 23. The evening includes appetizers, desserts and a talent show put on by the kids.

The celebration will wrap up with a 5K Color Run for all ages and running levels in Yerington on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m. Runners can register for $25 per runner. Teams of five participants or more can register for $100. Registration includes a T-shirt and lunch. Kids in Boys & Girls Club shirts can run for free. After the run, visitors can stick for a Day for Kids carnival at Rocket Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
