Free events sponsored by Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties are planned this month.

Everyone’s an Asset Builder, a free workshop and lunch for community leaders, coaches, teachers, parents and grandparents, is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Fernley Intermediate School, 320 Highway 95A. Family Strengths, a free workshop for parents, is from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 at Fernley Intermediate School. Find out about the five family strengths and learn how to build on your family’s strengths. A spaghetti fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 20 at Js’ Old Town Bistro in Dayton will help raise funds for a Remote Area Medical popup clinic Sept. 23-25 in Silver Springs. The spaghetti dinner costs $15 per person. For information about the free medical event, call 775-350-9250.

Additionally, Silver city’s Resident Artist program is hosting David Lee, a poet whose book, “Last Call,” was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, through December.
