Wave cross country records career bests

The Greenwave cross country team saw personal bests from all but one runner in last week’s North Tahoe Kiwanis Invitational.

Sophomore Justin Cathey led the boys with a 30th-place finish out of 183 runners in the 3.3 mile race while senior Corin Ramos led the girls with a 78th-place finish out of 104 runners.

Cathey ran the course in 23 minutes, 47.18 seconds, followed by senior Joseph Terry (24:40.36), junior JR Demillo (26:21.67), senior John Kirkland (29:25.43), junior Dawson Frost (30:24.58) and sophomore William Anderson (33:59.52).

Ramos finished the race in 32:45.52, followed by freshman Savannah Robinson (33:31.81), senior Amanda Pursley (33:32.62), and juniors Jeanne Anderson (33:34.92) and Bailee Walker (35:53.62). While Pursley didn’t have a career best, her time was the best for this season.

Thomson awarded 2nd conference honor

Corcordia (Irvine, Calif.) freshman and ex-Fallon star Tristen Thomson won his second-consecutive weekly conference honor.

After being named the PacWest Freshman of the Week two weeks ago, Thomson finished 30th out of 141 runners at the Biola Invitational on Saturday. He led all freshmen conference runners with an average time of 5 minutes, 9 seconds, for an overall time of 25:37 to pick up this week’s honor.
