Earthquake prediction: Sam Davis of the Carson Appeal has gone into the prophet, seer and revelation business. He announces earthquakes for the Pacific Coast. We have our eye on Sam and the seismograph. An earthquake took place at Cloverdale, Calif., but was not a heavy shock. New Zealand had a volcanic eruption in July and stated that there would be earthquakes in the United States in 60 days ...

A filmy story: The winning decision for Joe Gans in the Gans/Nelson fight in Goldfield is plainly discernible in moving pictures. The films gave out at the end of the 35th round, and film of the end of the fight was lost (44 rounds were fought and Gans won).

Nevada State Museum: An all-time record was set at the Nevada State Museum with the eighth month number at 14,868. There are new exhibit items from the USS Nevada. Also on exhibit is a live-caged chinchilla the size of a small rabbit that was presented to the museum by Miles A. Cooper of the Cooper Chinchilla Ranch near Reno. It is thriving at its new location and is fed a daily diet of alfalfa, sunflower seeds and other grassy foods and is of special interest to youngsters.

Meteorite: A meteorite was sighted blazing across the northeastern United States turning the night into garish day and then exploding and raining fiery fragments on two states and Canada. The chief meteorologist at the Adler Planetarium described the phenomenon as a bolide.
